Nominating Chair
To ensure continuity on the HBAS National and Local Boards, we are looking for a Nominating Chair to focus on succession planning strategies. The Nominating Chair will identify talented Harvard alumni suited for open positions in National and Local Boards, facilitate the elections and appointments to the National Board by drafting announcements, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews and orchestrating elections. The Nominating Chair will also have responsibility for recruiting leaders for Local Boards.
Harvard Black Alumni Weekend Chairs (two positions available)
We are currently seeking two passionate, committed alums to take the lead in the Harvard Black Alumni Society’s most high-profile event, the Harvard Black Alumni Weekend. With the support of the HBAS President, you will be required to take the lead on the vision, organization, and fundraising for the event, which we hope will take place in 2020. This position is ideal for alums who are skilled in event planning and/or fundraising, have a strong network, can lead both independently and collaboratively, and feel a strong connection to the Harvard black alumni community. Preference in one of the two available positions will be given to a recent alum of Harvard College.
Please note that National Board members are required to contribute or raise at least $500 annually.
Additional Opportunities to Get Involved
HBAS Local Chapter President
HBAS local chapter presidents bring together the Harvard black alumni in their individual cities. As local chapter president, you will take the lead on organizing local events (ideally at least one per season), develop a relationship with your local Harvard Club, communicate regularly with the Alumni Affairs Chair and the National Board and serve as a liaison between Harvard alums in your city and the National Board. The position of HBAS Local Chapter President in NYC, Washington, D.C., L.A., and South Florida are filled. We are looking for HBAS Local Chapter Presidents in all other cities with a critical mass of Harvard black alums.
